Description
Carl Crennel is a former linebacker in the National Football League, and the Canadian Football League. He played for one season with the Pittsburgh Steelers in the NFL, and for several different teams in the CFL, most notably Montreal Alouettes from 1972-1979. He was drafted in the 1970 NFL Draft out of West Virginia, where he captained the Mountaineers to a 10-1 record in 1969 and a victory in the Peach Bowl; he was named MVP in the game. In 1998 Crennel was made a member of the West Virginia University Sports Hall of Fame.
He is the younger brother of Romeo Crennel, former head coach of the Cleveland Browns and the Kansas City Chiefs.
