Description
Stephen Phil "Steve" Kuberski is an American former professional basketball player. Kuberski played nine NBA seasons for the Boston Celtics, Milwaukee Bucks, and Buffalo Braves, averaging 3.8 rebounds and 5.5 points per game. Kuberski won two NBA titles with the Celtics, in 1973-74 and 1975-76. His greater claim to fame though, is being the last Celtic to wear number 33 before Larry Bird.
Kuberski played high school basketball at Moline High School where he led the Maroons to the Elite Eight in the 1965 season. He originally attended the University of Illinois, but was ruled ineligible for the 1967?68 academic year by the Big Ten Conference on March 4, 1967 for receiving financial assistance of US $35 per month from a slush fund established by the school's athletic department. He eventually decided to transfer out of Illinois and spend his remaining two years of college athletic eligibility at Bradley University.
Kuberski now owns his own company in the New England area, making lockers for schools and warehouse products.
