Philip Nelson is an American football player who most recently played quarterback for the Minnesota Golden Gophers and was to have started playing for Rutgers this season.
Nelson was charged with first- and third-degree assault after allegedly kicking 24-year-old Issac Kolstad in the head while Kolstad was lying on the ground on Sunday, May 11, 2014. He was dismissed from the Rutgers Football program on the following Tuesday.
