Description

Edward C. Allcard was a British naval architect, marine surveyor, yachtsman and author. Allcard was educated at Eton College. In 1949, he crossed the Atlantic ocean single-handed, in 81 days. In 1951, leaving the Azores, he found a 23-year old female stowaway on his yawl, Temptress. He appeared as a "castaway" on the BBC Radio programme Desert Island Discs on 26 July 1955.
