Description
Jack Laskey born 1982 in Ipswich, Suffolk, is an English actor. He is the third son of Michael Laskey, a poet.
Laskey trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art.
His early theatre credits include Romeo in Romeo and Juliet, Cornelius/Reynaldo in Hamlet, Carney in Biloxi Blues, Juliet in an all-male production of Romeo and Juliet, and Hamlet in Hamlet.
At Shakespeare's Globe Laskey played Bernard of Clairvaux in Howard Brenton's critically acclaimed In Extremis and Octavius Caesar in Antony and Cleopatra, both in 2006. The following year, Laskey worked with Punchdrunk theatre company, creating the role of Roderick Usher in their site-specific, promenade production The Masque of the Red Death ? an adaptation of various Edgar Allan Poe short stories at London's Battersea Arts Centre.
In 2008 he made his Royal Shakespeare Company debut, playing Bassanio in The Merchant of Venice, Biondello in The Taming of the Shrew and Robert Hooke in The Tragedy of Thomas Hobbes. He played Orlando in the acclaimed 2009 Shakespeare's Globe production of As You Like It, for which he received an Ian Charleson Award Commendation.
