Hou Hsiao-Hsien is a Taiwanese actor, singer, producer and director. He is a leading figure of Taiwan's New Wave cinema movement.
Hou has four movies selected as the "100 Greatest Chinese Films of the 20th Century" by Yazhou Zhoukan, two of which are of Hakka/Mandarin: "A Summer at Grandpa's, 1984 and "A Time to Live, A Time to Die", 1985
