Description
Malcolm Stevenson "Steve" Forbes, Jr. is an American publishing executive who was twice a candidate for the nomination of the Republican Party for president. He is the editor-in-chief of business magazine Forbes magazine, as well as president and chief executive officer of its parent company: Forbes, Inc. His 20 year tenure as head of Forbes magazine coincided with the decline of the publication and the Forbes family empire. By 2009, Forbes' EBITDA had fallen to -$4.6M and in 2010, he was replaced as President and Chief Executive Officer of Forbes Media LLC, the publisher of Forbes magazine, by Mike Perlis, the first non-Forbes family member to run the magazine since its founding in 1917. Forbes magazine was eventually put up for sale in November 2013. He was a Republican candidate in the 1996 and 2000 presidential primaries. He is the son of longtime Forbes publisher Malcolm Forbes and the grandson of that publication's founder, B.C. Forbes.
