Description
Karl Meltzer is an ultrarunner and ultrarunning coach based in Sandy, Utah. While many ultramarathoners tend to be vegetarian, vegan, and anti-alcohol or caffeine, Meltzer has been seen with bacon, red bull, and microbrews. Meltzer is known for not only having more 100-mile wins at the ultramarathon event than any other ultramarathoner, but also for his notable speed record attempts at major U.S. trails including both the Appalachian Trail and the Pony Express Trail. Both speed records were supported and fully documented. Meltzer's trail runs have been featured in news outlets from Ultrarunning.com to NBC Sports.
Meltzer has been a professional ultramarathoner since 1999, and a coach since 2007.
Meltzer is the current Race Director for the Speedgoat 50K at Snowbird Ski Resort, and that self-founded ultramarathon is said to be one of the toughest United States ultras.
