Description
Kathleen A. "Kathy" Orr is a meteorologist. She grew up in Westvale, New York, outside Syracuse and is the Chief Meteorologist for the CBS 3 Eyewitness Weather Team in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and provided the 4 P.M., 6 P.M., and 11 P.M. weather forecasts from 2003 through summer 2011. She joined KYW-TV in January 2003 as their chief meteorologist, making her debut on the same night as Marc Howard. Orr has her National Weather Association and American Meteorological Society seals of approval in addition to being an AMS Certified Broadcast Meteorologist. She came from WCAU-TV where she worked as a weekend weatherperson. She was reportedly asked to be chief meteorologist at WCAU when John Bolaris left but turned that down when she received a better salary offer from KYW-TV for chief meteorologist there. The offer at WCAU was ultimately taken by Glenn Schwartz.
Since joining the CBS 3 Weather Team, Orr has also helped establish "CBS-3 Kidcasters", where she and various CBS-3 crew members travel to various shopping malls in the Delaware Valley and encourage children of all ages to do a mock weather forecast.
