Roger Werner is one of a small group of cable industry pioneers who have designed, built and managed some of cable television?s most successful networks. Since February 2012 he has served as Co-Chairman of Outdoor Channel Holdings, Inc.. From November 2006 to February 2012 he served as the company?s President and CEO growing its subscriber base from 20 to 38 million, increasing profitability fourfold and dramatically improving program quality and market presence.
Between 1995 and 2002, Werner developed Speedvision and OLN and served as both networks? President and CEO. He developed these networks in partnership with investors, Cox, Comcast and ATT. Launched in December 1995, Speedvision and Outdoor Life achieved profitability, as planned, in 2001 on combined revenue of over $100 million. In July 2001, Werner and two of his partners, Cox and ATT, concluded the sale of their network shareholdings to Fox and Comcast. This deal valued the two networks at $1.4 billion, making Speedvision and Outdoor Life two of the largest, most successful programming start-ups in cable television history.
