Description
Sam Harris is an Australian professional basketball player. At 7'3", Harris is the tallest player ever to play in the National Basketball League.
Harris attended high school at Lake Ginninderra College in Canberra.
Harris attended the AIS between 2002 and 2004 when he received a four year scholarship recipient at Old Dominion University. Upon graduating he returned home to Tasmania where he played for SEABL team NW Tasmania Thunder in 2008 and 2009. He also played for the Singapore Slingers in 2008?09 during the International Challenge Series. He then signed with NBL team the Perth Wildcats where he played mostly as a back up player for the 2010 champions, though he did play in six games averaging 1 point, 1.2 rebounds and 0.3 blocks per game.
Harris then joined the Adelaide 36ers for the 2010?11 NBL season as a training player where he linked with Mark Radford, his development coach at the Wildcats. His continued good development, as well as an injury to team mate Mitch Creek, saw Harris activated from the 36ers training squad to full NBL status. His first 36ers game was at home in Adelaide against the New Zealand Breakers on 12 November 2010.
