Description
Carl Hancock Rux is an American interdisciplinary performative artist, published poet, novelist, essayist, playwright and academic. He is the author of the OBIE Award-winning play Talk; the dystopian fiction Asphalt, the award winning collection of poetry and prose, Pagan Operetta and several music recordings. Rux is one of the original contributing writers of the triannual Nka Journal of Contemporary African Art and his writings have appeared in numerous journals, catalogues, books, and magazines including Interview magazine, Essence magazine, the New York Times, aRude Magazine, and American Theater Magazine. His archives are housed at the Billy Rose Theater Division of the New York Public Library, The Smithsonian?s Archives of American Art as well as the Film and Video/Theater and Dance Library of the California Institute of the Arts. He is the recipient of numerous awards including the Alpert Award in the Arts.
