Walker Russell, Jr. is an American professional basketball player. A native of Pontiac, Michigan, he played collegiately for Chipola Junior College in Florida and Jacksonville State University.
Russell is the son of former NBA player Walker Russell, who played six seasons in the NBA during the 1980s.
He played with the Fort Worth Flyers in 2006?07 and has had several stints with the Fort Wayne Mad Ants. In 2008?09, Russell averaged 16.1 points and 10.8 assists per game for the Mad Ants.
During the 2011 NBA lockout he played in the Dominican Republic for Los Leones de Santo Domingo, with whom he averaged 16 points per game, 2.5 rebounds per game and gave 5.4 assists per game. The team won the league final, beating Los Cocolos de San Pedro de Macoris in 6 games.
In 2011, Russell Jr. signed with the Detroit Pistons to compete for a spot on the team during training camp. Prior to signing with the Pistons, Russell Jr. earned Player of the Week honors while playing with the Fort Wayne Mad Ants in the NBA Development League. On January 20, 2012, Russell was re-signed by the Pistons.
In October 2012, Russell signed with the Oklahoma City Thunder.
