Carlos Briggs is a retired, American professional basketball player, given a moniker "the Red" because of the color of his hair, He spent his freshman and sophomore seasons at schoolcraft, Michigan Junior College. Briggs was a JUCO All-American in 1983-84 after netting 34.2 points an outing, the highest in the nation. Briggs transferred to Baylor University in 1984-85 and contributed 20.4 ppg and 3.5 apg for the Bears. He was kicked out of the team as a senior due to disciplinary reasons. Briggs was the fourth round draftee of the San Antonio Spurs in 1986 but never played in the NBA. He played for the Rockford Lightning in the Continental Basketball Association in 1988-89 and had a brief stint with the Youngstown Pride in the World Basketball League in May, 1989. Briggs was no longer with the team when the Pride eventually captured the WBL crown over the Calgary 88's.
