Frank Manning "Bruiser" Kinard, Sr. was a professional American football player for the Brooklyn Dodgers/Tigers of the National Football League and the New York Yankees of the All-America Football Conference. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1971. He played college football at the University of Mississippi and was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1951. Bruiser lettered for the Ole Miss Rebels from 1935 to 1937 and served as co-captain of the 1937 Ole Miss squad. While playing tackle, the Rebels compiled a record of 18?13?3 including a 9?3 record in 1936 which featured the school's first appearance in a bowl game, a 20?19 loss to Catholic University in the 1936 Orange Bowl. He was an All-American and All-SEC pick in 1936 and 1937. Bruiser was the school's first All-American football player. Squad played in the 1938 Chicago All-Star game and was voted to the Southern Living South's Greatest Players Team. Kinard was inducted into the Ole Miss Athletic Hall of Fame in 1986. He is a charter member of the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame, having been inducted in the inaugural class in 1961 along with Edwin Hale, Dudy Noble, and Stanley L. Robinson.
