Roy Joseph Staiger is a former infielder in Major League Baseball who played for the New York Mets and New York Yankees. This makes him one of the few players to have played for both current New York baseball teams. He played primarily at third base. Staiger was drafted out of high school by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 15th round of the June 1969 amateur draft. He declined to sign with the Dodgers and instead attended Bacone College in Oklahoma. In the January 1970 amateur draft, he was selected in the 1st round by the New York Mets and signed with the Mets.
