Helen Waddell-Wyatt played for the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League from 1949 to 1951. She was nicknamed "Sis". She both threw and batted right-handed in outfield, and utility infield positions. Waddell was born in in Lemoyne, Pennsylvania. She had five older brothers, who she claimed, "beat the hell out of [her]," toughening her up which helped her with her baseball. She was a tomboy who had to defend herself against them, and also played football with them. She married Neil Wyatt in 1951. He asked her to quit playing baseball and she did. They were married for 53 years and had two sons, Neil II and Scott. Husband Neil died in 2004, and three years later Scott died of a heart attack. [More at Wikipedia]
