Description
William Joseph Duplissea is a former minor league baseball player and coach, who last served as the bullpen catcher for the Kansas City Royals of Major League Baseball. He graduated from Junipero Serra High School in San Mateo, California. He joined the long list of Serra baseball luminaries, including Jim Fregosi, Gregg Jefferies, and Barry Bonds, being selected baseball's MVP his senior year.
He was originally drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in the 39th round of the 1997 MLB Draft out of the University of California-Santa Barbara. He did not sign with the Orioles and was later signed by the Los Angeles Dodgers as a free agent in 1999.
Duplissea played catcher in the Dodgers organization from 1999-2003 with the Yakima Bears, Great Falls Dodgers, San Bernardino Stampede, Vero Beach Dodgers, Albuquerque Dukes and Jacksonville Suns.
After his playing career ended he was an assistant coach for the College of San Mateo before joining the Royals staff as the bullpen catcher in 2006.
