Alexander Paul "Alex" Charak is an American soap opera actor. He played the role of Elwood Hoffman on the daytime soap opera As The World Turns. Charak was born in Lake Success, New York. He is a graduate of The Wheatley School in Old Westbury, New York. He is currently living in New York City and attending New York University at The Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute. He also studies improv at The Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre. Before taking his role in As The World Turns, Alex spent time at French Woods Festival of the Performing Arts where he acted in many shows. Charak joined the cast of As The World Turns on September 26, 2006 in the role of Elwood Hoffman, the college roommate of Casey Hughes. As the winner of the CBS online reality contest InTurn, he was given a 13-week contract. He played the awesome nerd in Step Up 3D
