Katrin Dagmar G�ring-Eckardt, better known as Katrin G�ring-Eckardt, is a German politician from the German Green Party. Starting her political activity in the now-former German Democratic Republic in the late 1980s, she has been a member of the German Bundestag since 1998. She became co-chair of her party caucus in the Bundestag and the Greens' Vice President of the Bundestag on 18 October 2005, a position that she has held since then. In the November 2012 primary election, the Green Party chose her and J�rgen Trittin as the top two candidates for the Greens for the 2013 German federal election that took place on 22 September 2013. In addition, since 2009, G�ring-Eckardt is the praeses of the synod of the Evangelical Church in Germany and thus a member of the Council of the EKD.
