Description
William Childs Westmoreland was a United States Army four-star general. General Westmoreland was in command of all U.S. military operations in the Vietnam War from 1964 to 1968, including during the 1968 Tet Offensive. Westmoreland adopted a strategy of attrition against the Viet Cong and the North Vietnamese Army. He served as U.S. Army chief of staff from 1968 to 1972.
