  1. No Skin Off My Ass (1991)
No Skin Off My Ass is a 1993 comedy-drama film by Bruce LaBruce. Filmed in black and white, this is LaBruce's debut feature film, in which he plays the role of a punk hairdresser with Klaus von Brcker as the skinhead with whom he is obsessed. G.B. Jones stars as a film director who is also the skinhead's sister, and it is her attempts at bringing her brother and the hairdresser together that add comedic elements to the film. The cast also includes Fifth Column band members Caroline Azar and Beverly Breckenridge. No Skin Off My Ass provides a template for many of the themes in LaBruce's later movies. Explicit sex scenes between LaBruce's character and von Brucker's are interwoven with a radical political message espoused by Jones, whose character directs a film called "Girls of the SLA". No Skin Off My Ass played film festivals around the world and quickly became a cult film. Famously, Kurt Cobain declared it his favourite film.

  8. An Affair of the Skin (1963)
An Affair of the Skin is a 1963 film written and directed by Ben Maddow. It is a complex story of the romantic entanglements of its several characters as seen through the eyes of a black woman photographer. Shortly after its release, the film was harshly reviewed in Time Magazine and The New York Times. Woody Haut's recent characterization is more sympathetic: ...a worthy, if not altogether successful, attempt at being an American art movie, a hodgepodge of influences, from Italian Realists, Antonioni and Bergman to US social conscience films and documentarists like Robert Flaherty. Written, produced and directed by former documentarist and Hollywood scriptwriter Ben Maddow, the film was, for the most part, shot on the streets of New York, and memorable for its sensuousness, its street-level camera-work and use of natural light. Maddow is reported as feeling that the initial release of An Affair of the Skin had been rushed for financial reasons. In 1973, ten years later its initial release, Maddow re-edited and released it again under the title Love As Disorder.

An audience member is chosen as "Secretary" and has the job of keeping a note of the topics covered on a white board. In practice, the personality of the secretary will also prompt many jokes ? usually at his or her expense. At the end of the show, Skinner asks either the secretary or the audience to choose between two song books, and to pick a page number between 1 and 20. This process determines which song is performed by the duo, sung by Skinner with Baddiel accompanying him on piano.
