Painted Skin is a 2008 supernatural-fantasy film directed by Gordon Chan, starring Donnie Yen, Chen Kun, Zhou Xun, Zhao Wei, Betty Sun and Qi Yuwu. Although the film is based partly on a supernatural premise, it is more of an action-romance than a horror film. Painted Skin is based, very loosely, on one of Pu Songling's classic short stories in Strange Stories from a Chinese Studio. The theme song of the film, Hu� X?n, was performed by Jane Zhang.

The cast includes Stuart Erwin, Jack Haley, Patsy Kelly, Arline Judge, Dixie Dunbar, Betty Grable, Tony Martin and, in her feature film debut, 14-year-old Judy Garland. 20th Century Fox distributed this film.

Painted Skin: The Resurrection is a 2012 Chinese fantasy action film directed by Wu Ershan, starring Chen Kun, Zhao Wei, Zhou Xun, Yang Mi, Feng Shaofeng, Kris Phillips and Chen Tingjia. The film reunites most of the original cast of the 2008 film Painted Skin.
